                                                   COMMENTARY

 The promise that Abraham should be the heir of the world was the promise of the Gospel! That's what this chapter and the whole book of Romans is all about. The term "through the law" is a reference to the Jewish nation because it was through them that the law was given and Paul tells us that the promise ~Did Not Come Through Them~!  This is devastating to Pre-millennial & Dispensational Theology! It also destroys the basis of Covenant Theology. The promise of the Covenant is NOT through the Jews!  It’s through FAITH! And that Faith was first manifested in a Chaldean Gentile Dog named Abram! Genesis 15:3-6!
