                                        COMMENTARY

  Guess what everybody...This verse and the following does not teach what most people think it does. Most people think Jesus is giving instructions to His disciples to go preach the gospel...but that ain’t what the Greek language says. A close examination of the Greek text shows something else. Let’s see.

First word; "Go".

Translated in the AV as..
-go 117[times], depart 11, walk 9, go (one's) way 8, misc 9; 154 times total.

Lexicon Meanings
1) to lead over, carry over, transfer
1a) to pursue the journey on which one has entered, to continue on one's journey
1b) to depart from life
1c) to follow one, that is: become his adherent
1c1) to lead or order one's life

Common understanding/interpretation; - Jesus is telling His disciples to go somewhere and do something, which means that they will follow His instructions *after* He finishes speaking. Right? Wrong! The command to "Go" is in the Aorist tense, which is a Past tense. So how could Jesus be telling His disciples to go do something by speaking in the past tense? It is also a Participle, which is indicated by the ending, -ing.

Mistake-maker objection; Yeah but it just means "Going..". Like this... ‘Going into all the world, preach...’ And in fact Green’s LIT has just that; "And He said to them, Going into all the world, preach..."

  The word "Preach" is -also-  in the Aorist tense, which again is the past tense. Young’s Literal does better here with "Go"; ’Having gone to all the world, proclaim the good news to all the creation;

But as you can see, when he gets to ‘preach’, which is in the Aorist tense, he flops by translating it as a present action. 

 If we are going to translate...not Interpret, but Translate, from Greek to English then it comes out something like this;

"Having gone into the world, and having preached the Gospel...";

with both verbs properly in the past tense, that would be a more accurate rendering of the text and it would certainly have a very profound impact on how we then interpret this passage.
