COMMENTARY
Ahh-h! says the unbeliever... here.. See! It says we ain't supposta judge.
First it speaks of believers.. brethren. Second it is speaking
of believers who are -Speaking Evil- of each other! To say
something that is true about a professing brother is not to "speak
evil" of him. If he is in sin and we confront him that is not "speaking
evil" of him. Otherwise we make this verse teach toleration of sin! And
if he no repent then he has no cause to claim being saved. This is not
speaking evil; it’s dealing with sin properly. As the verse
says... if we speak evil against him then we are sinfully
‘judging’ him.
