                              COMMENTARY

  Covenant; In the NT the same Greek word means both ‘covenant’ and ‘testament’. A covenant is a testament is a covenant. Same thing only different.

Elements of the Mosaic covenant;
. Imperfection
. Failure
. Apostasy

Elements of the New Covenant;
. Perfect/Complete
. Successful
. Cannot lose salvation

  How could that possibly resolve into ~One~ covenant?

 It says... a -better- covenant with  -better- promises;  not 'a different administration of the -same- covenant with the -same- promises.’  That’s how a covenant theologian reads these passages. Therefore there are two separate and distinct covenants.  Not "One covenant with two administrations".

  The word 'better' necessitates the concept of 'two'. I have a 'better' car than you; a 'better' house; job; whatever. Other examples from Scripture...

Php 1:23  For I am pressed together by the two: having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better,

  Here the word 'two' is used showing the obvious meaning of 'better'. Paul was 'pressed together by the two'... like when you press the ingredients of a sandwich together with >Two< pieces of bread.

Heb 1:4  having become so much better than the angels, He has inherited a name more excellent than they.

   The words -better- and -more excellent- are the same  as found here in 8:6
. Clearly Christ and the angels are two separate and distinct beings.

  Is the word -better- a word that proceeds out of the mouth of God?
