Oh.... his Flesh! The covenant of circumcision was in Abe’s Flesh! And everybody knows that the flesh profits.... —-Nothing—-!

Now... the verse plainly says that the covenant [of circumcision] "
shall be in your flesh for an ~everlasting~ covenant."  The Hebrew word "olam" means everlasting. So where is Abraham's flesh now? And where is the covenant of -Circumcision-, not "baptism", now? Even Covenant Theologians must concede that "olam" cannot be taken in a strict literal sense here. So also, when it says..."And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession;" Gen 17:8 it does not mean everlasting in a strict literal sense. How do we know that? Easy. The land promise was applied to the Nation of Israel as a Theocracy, which Theocracy has ended with the 1st Advent of Messiah. That Theocracy was a -Type- of the Church and once types have fulfilled their purpose they are never repeated. That's why Premillennialism & Dispensationalism are rank heresies folks! Both false doctrines want to -repeat- from the Old Testament that which has been fulfilled in the New and done away in Christ. Moreover the land aspect of the promise was indeed fulfilled literally for that is the central theme of the book of Joshua. So again much care must be taken when seeking to arrive at the proper understanding of the Old Testament.
