                              COMMENTARY

  What was the sabbath?
Answer; It was a Sign.
  What's a sign?
Answer; A distinguishing mark of identity.
 What was the sabbath the sign of?
Answer; It was the distinguishing mark that identified the Covenant.
 What Covenant?
Answer; The Covenant of Ten Commandments that God made between Himself and the children of Israel.

The Sabbath was the Sign of the Mosaic Ten Commandments Covenant that God made between Himself and the Children of Israel. It was to be a Sign forever, which meant for as long as the Nation of Israel lasted as the Special Covenant temporal nation chosen by God above all the nations of the earth.   Both the Nation and the Covenant came to an end with the Advent of Messiah. There is no more Ten Commandments Covenant or Nation of Israel. There is no more sabbath. All was done away in Christ when he nailed the entire covenant to His cross and put it away once and for all.
