COMMENTARY
How? How does the Spirit bear witness with our spirit that we are sons of God? By a so-called
"felt sense of His presence"? Pure unbiblical, mystical nonsense! According to
the context of chapters 6 to 8, it is by the reality of the New life
evidenced by the absence of sin. Having been set Free from one's sin. That's how!
Moreover, seeing as He is the Spirit
of Truth it is evidenced by a love of the truth and a willingness to be
held up to it.
And if sin is discovered you confess it,
repent, get back up & keep on going; walking in Newness of life
apart from sin! That's how!
