                                           COMMENTARY

  Peter knew who the elect were ! Did he have direct revelation? Maybe.

Election is never in a vacuum folksiees. Like when we elect a prezident he don’t just sit around and marvel at the fact the he got elected; Noperoonie. He ups & duz somethin. He prezes.. [he’s the prezident ya know]. He was elected unto functioning as the prezz.

So when God elects a human being it is unto something & if’n that sumethin ain’t there then guess swatt? No claimee to be Christian.

In 2Thes 2:13 it is taught that election is unto salvation. Quote; "God has, from the beginning chosen you..."This speaks of the source, or origin of election. ..."unto salvation.." This speaks of the goal of election. Then in Eph 1 we see that God has chosen His people "in Christ" b 4 the foundation of the world. This is the ground or basis of election; Messiah.

  Here in 1 Peter it is said that election is unto obedience. This is the Evidence that one is among the elect. Maybe that’s how Peter could address his readers as the elect because he saw plenty of obedience. Anyways... upon the error of mixing all these things around the result is false doctrine so make sure you know what you are reading and what the writer is talking about... and what the Spirit meant in any given passage b 4 you get all tangled up in spaghetti religion... which saves nobuddy.

*The Origin of election is the Eternal Decree of God.
*The Ground, or Basis of election is His Son. This includes        His work of Redemption on behalf of the elect.
*The Goal of election is salvation.
*The evidence of election is Gospel obedience.

2Th 1:8  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1Pe 4:17  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
